Match Day Manager Needed For Top Side and Reserves Coach

men

The first team coach (Victor) would like some assistance on game days from a team manager. This involves filling out the team sheet, checking we have water bottles filled, first aid for players, etc. It's only a small job, but one that is of great assistance to the coach. Please give me a call if you can help (Jerry 0416 210 530)."

We also require a Reserves coach. If you have been thinking about giving senior coaching a crack, know is a good time to have a go. You will get support from the First team coach and is a good opportunity have some influence on this side. It would be great to get one of the senior players to help out (player/coaches welcome). If we can't manage to get someone for this position we may have to revert to more of a Div 6 operating model for the reserves (not a great option, but one we'll need to take if nobody steps forward) Give me a call if you can help out (Jerry)".

Season 2008

menwomenjunior

New Coach:

We are pleased to announce Victor Rekimchuk has been appointed Director of Coaching and First team coach at Oxley Utd.

During the season Victor will be helping the coaches of the junior teams with their training programs and taking charge of the First teams campaign for 2008.

Training for senior mens sides (yes, that means you 6 div!) will begin in early January at Dunlop Park.

2008 Fees:

Due to a fee hike from FFA and other associated cost of running the club their has been a minor fee increase for most players at all levels next years. These cost rises are unfortunately unavoidable. Hopefully the early notice will help all members budgeting for the 2008 season.

Also, to address our fund raising shortfall each season, we are asking all senior players and each junior family to contribute an additional $25 fund raising levy to the fees listed below. This will go cost incurred in keeping the club viable.

(Please note, Senior Men who did not "donate" $20 last season to cover the ground switch to Darra, as requested by the senior men, will need to pay a second additional "donation" on signing this season.)

Please keep in mind that we are still one of the least expensive clubs to play for in Brisbane. We do not collect weekly referee's fees.

Senior Men (Football Brisbane comp) $360
Senior Women $340
Over 35's - TBD
Junior colts playing in senior divisions 17, 18 yrs $310
Junior 14, 15, 16 yrs $230
Junior 11, 12, 13 yrs $210
Junior Rooball $170

We are also calling for volunteers to coach at all levels; Juniors, Womens, Mens (Reserve coach). Please contact any of the committee members if you can help out with this. We'd be pleased to have you on board.

Keep an eye on this site for further updates, including a club working bee and BBQ in December.

Men's Updates

men

An extensive set of updates have been done for most of the men, with the results, goalscorers and tables updated as known for the firsts, reserves and thirds.  Two match reports are now available, one for the firsts against Old Bridge, and one for the weekend's game against Narangba.  Updates for Juniors and Women will occur during the course of the week.

Will Windsor has sent along some Player's Player information for the games against Clairvaux, Acacia Ridge and the Metro Cup Round One match.

Player's Player vs Clairvaux

Metro One Adam Tomlinson
Metro Reserves Huey Matthews

Voting was very tight in the Players’ Award for both games. Adam Tomlinson, became the first non-goal scorer to be voted by his fellow players as the Players’ Player. A disciplined defensive display characteristic of this ever-reliable player ensured that he collected the majority of votes. Tomlinson’s assuredness settled a nervous Oxley to help the team collect all three points in their search for honours this season.

In the Reserves Huey Matthews was impeccable, yet again. Technically gifted and comfortable on the ball Matthew’s continues to pull the string for the strongly improving Reserve team. Well done to both player’s.

Player's Player vs. Acacia Ridge

Congratulations to Colin Jamieson who, after the clash against Acacia Ridge was selected as the Metro One Player’s Player. In a dogged display capped off with a Lampardesque strike from 25 metres Jamieson caught the imagination of his fellow players to take the players’ award in emphatic fashion.

In Metro Reserves voting was much tighter with Daniel Smith, Dave Lee and Patty Cranley all polling the same number of votes. This close voting continues to make the overall Reserve’s Player’s Player award a very tight affair and I would implore all players to vote.

Metropolitan Cup Round One

Finally, Dave Pritchard continued the excellent polling for goal scorers winning the Player’s Player award in the 9-1 Metro Cup victory against Brisbane Wolves. Pritchard rounded off his consistent and hard working display with two finely taken goals.  In a display reminiscent of the great Arsenal number 14 Thierry Henry Pritchard was skilful, clinical and assured. As a keen observer I believe Pritchard will continue to improve the more time he spends watching the Pride of North London- Arsenal.

Well done to all players.

Remember that votes can be sent to will.windsor@optusnet.com.au

More Updates

juniormenwomen

The results and tables, as known, for the men, women and junior championship teams have been updated.  The men's goalscorers and statistics have been updated as well.  This week's fixtures for the women are available, but no new junior fixtures are available as they have not been released yet.  The men's firsts and metro 6 teams have their cup matches this week, and those fixture details are available on their respective team pages.

A match report for last week's men's games against Acacia Ridge has been provided and can be seen here.  Will Windsor has passed on the Players' Player details for round four against Souths United two weeks ago.

Metro One Andy Martin
Metro Reserves Del Chattell

With a combative and driving display against the division’s best performing team Andy Martin was selected as this round’s Players’ Player. For the second week in a row the reserve team players’ voted Del “Two Socks” Chatell as their Man of the Match. Well done to all players for getting their votes in ASAP.

Significant Updates

clubjuniormenwomen

There have been some significant updates made to the site today.  All the known fixtures for the juniors and women have been updated, which means only this weekend, as Football Brisbane have not released any beyond.  The menu should now be updated, as well as the individual team pages and calendars.

Results and tables for the men have been updated where known, including goalscorers.  A match report by Peter Martin has been put up for your enjoyment, for the game against Souths for the Metro 1 side this past weekend.  You can see that here.

And a note from Will Windsor, for Round Three Player's Player.

Metro One Russell Morrison, Darryl Dixon
Metro Reserves Del Chattell

Well done to all three players.  If you are unable to vote at training, players can email their two votes to will.windsor@optusnet.com.au

Fixture Updates

men

There are some fixture changes for the men's Metro 1 sides this week, because of lighting problems at Acacia Ridge.  The Metro 1 Reserves are now kicking off at 2:30 PM and the Firsts are kicking off at 4:30 PM.  The fixture pages and calendar have been updated with this as well.
